Desiring To See The Lord
Luke 19:1-10
And Jesus entered and passed
through Jericho. 2 And, behold, there was a man named Zacchaeus, which
was the chief among the publicans, and he was rich. 3 And he sought to see
Jesus who he was; and could not for the press, because he was little of
stature. 4 And he ran before, and climbed up into a sycomore tree to see him:
for he was to pass that way. 5 And when Jesus came to the place, he
looked up, and saw him, and said unto him, Zacchaeus, make
haste, and come down; for to day I must abide at thy house. 6 And he made haste, and came down, and received him joyfully. 7 And
when they saw it, they all murmured, saying, That he was gone to be
guest with a man that is a sinner. 8 And Zacchaeus stood, and said unto the
Lord; Behold, Lord, the half of my goods I give to the poor; and if I have
taken any thing from any man by false accusation, I restore him
fourfold. 9 And Jesus said unto him, This day is salvation come to this house, forsomuch as he also is a son
of Abraham. 10 For the Son
of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.
Psalm 34:1-9
1
I will bless the LORD at all times: his praise shall continually be
in my mouth. 2 My soul shall make her
boast in the LORD: the humble shall hear thereof, and be glad. 3 O
magnify the LORD with me, and let us exalt his name together. 4 I sought the
LORD, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears. 5 They looked unto
him, and were lightened: and their faces were not ashamed. 6 This poor man cried, and the LORD heard him,
and saved him out of all his troubles. 7 The angel of the LORD encampeth round
about them that fear him, and delivereth them. 8 O taste and see that the LORD is
good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him. 9 O fear the LORD,
ye his saints: for there is no want to them that fear him.
Luke 11:1-13
And it came to pass, that, as he was
praying in a certain place, when he ceased, one of his disciples said unto him,
Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples. 2 And he said unto
them, When ye pray, say, Our Father which art in heaven,
Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in
earth. 3 Give us day
by day our daily bread. 4 And forgive us our sins; for we also forgive
every one that is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver
us from evil. 5 And he said unto them, Which of you shall have a friend, and shall go unto him at midnight, and
say unto him, Friend, lend me three loaves; 6 For a friend of mine in his journey is come to me, and I have nothing to
set before him? 7 And he from within shall answer and say,
Trouble me not: the door is now shut, and my children are with me in bed; I
cannot rise and give thee. 8 I say unto you, Though he will
not rise and give him, because he is his friend, yet because of his importunity
he will rise and give him as many as he needeth. 9 And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall
find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. 10 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to
him that knocketh it shall be opened. 11 If a son shall ask bread of any of you that is a father, will he give
him a stone? or if he ask a fish, will he for a fish give him a serpent? 12 Or if he shall ask an egg, will he offer him
a scorpion? 13 If ye then, being evil, know how to give
good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father
give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him? [1]
