12
Now when Jesus had heard that John was cast into prison, he departed into
Galilee; 13 And leaving Nazareth, he
came and dwelt in Capernaum, which is upon the sea coast, in the borders of
Zabulon and Nephthalim: 14 That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by
Esaias the prophet, saying, 15 The land of Zabulon, and the land of Nephthalim,
by the way of the sea, beyond Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles; 16 The
people which sat in darkness saw great light; and to them which sat in the
region and shadow of death light is sprung up. 17 From that time Jesus began to
preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven
is at hand.
In
the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2
The same was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made by him; and
without him was not any thing made that was made. 4 In him was life; and the
life was the light of men.
5
And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.
14
And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness,
even so must the Son of man be lifted up: 15 That
whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. 16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten
Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting
life. 17 For God sent not his Son into the world
to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. 18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that
believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of
the only begotten Son of God. 19 And this is the
condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather
than light, because their deeds were evil. 20 For
every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest
his deeds should be reproved. 21
But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his
deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.
12
Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the
light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall
have the light of life.
35
Then Jesus said unto them, Yet a little while is the
light with you. Walk while ye have the light, lest darkness come upon you: for
he that walketh in darkness knoweth not whither he goeth. 36 While ye have light, believe in the light, that ye may be the
children of light. These things spake Jesus, and departed, and did hide
himself from them.
44 Jesus cried and said, He that believeth on me, believeth not on me, but on him that
sent me. 45 And he that seeth me seeth him that
sent me. 46 I am come a light into the world,
that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness.
Be
ye therefore followers of God, as dear children; 2 And walk in love, as Christ
also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice
to God for a sweetsmelling savour.
3
But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named
among you, as becometh saints; 4 Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor
jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks. 5 For this ye
know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an
idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God. 6 Let no
man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath
of God upon the children of disobedience.
7 Be not ye therefore partakers with them. 8 For ye were sometimes
darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light: 9
(For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and
truth;) 10 Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord. 11 And have no fellowship
with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.
12
For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you
again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are
become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat. 13 For every one that
useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a
babe. 14 But strong meat belongeth to
them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their
senses exercised to discern both good and evil. [1]
