The
Unquestionable Authority of Jesus
Luke 20:1-8
THE AUTHORITY OF JESUS
1
And it came to pass, that on one of those days, as he taught the people
in the temple, and preached the gospel, the chief priests and the scribes came
upon him with the elders, 2 And spake unto him, saying, Tell
us, by what authority doest thou these things? or who is he that gave thee this
authority? 3 And he answered and said unto them, I will also ask you one thing; and answer me: 4
The baptism of John, was it from heaven, or of men? 5 And
they reasoned with themselves, saying, If we shall say, From heaven; he will
say, Why then believed ye him not? 6 But and if we say, Of men; all
the people will stone us: for they be persuaded that John was a prophet. 7
And they answered, that they could not tell whence it was. 8
And Jesus said unto them, Neither tell I you by what
authority I do these things.
John 3:1-7
THE NEW BIRTH-BORN AGAIN
1 There was a man of the
Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews: 2 The same came to
Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come
from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with
him. 3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I
say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. 4 Nicodemus
saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second
time into his mother’s womb, and be born? 5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I
say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he
cannot enter into the kingdom of God. 6 That which is born of the
flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7
Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.

16:15-18
BELIEVE AND BE BAPTIZED
15
And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and
preach the gospel to every creature. 16 He that believeth and is
baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. 17
And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out
devils; they shall speak with new tongues; 18 They shall take up
serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they
shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.
Luke 13:1-5
REPENT
1
There were present at that season some that told him of the Galilaeans, whose
blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices. 2 And Jesus
answering said unto them, Suppose ye that these
Galilaeans were sinners above all the Galilaeans, because they suffered such
things? 3 I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all
likewise perish. 4 Or those eighteen, upon whom the tower in Siloam
fell, and slew them, think ye that they were sinners above all men that dwelt
in Jerusalem? 5 I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all
likewise perish.
John
7:37-39
HOLY GHOST
37 In the last day, that great
day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst,
let him come unto me, and drink. 38 He that believeth on me, as the scripture
hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. 39 (But this
spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the
Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)

DISCIPLES AUTHORITY DUE TO
UNITY AND ONENESS W. JESUS
17 Sanctify them through thy
truth: thy word is truth. 18 As thou hast sent me into the world,
even so have I also sent them into the world. 19 And for their sakes
I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth.
20 Neither pray I for these
alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word; 21
That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee,
that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent
me. 22 And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that
they may be one, even as we are one: 23 I in them, and thou in me,
that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou
hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me.
24 Father, I will that they also,
whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory,
which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the
world. 25 O righteous Father, the world hath not known thee: but I
have known thee, and these have known that thou hast sent me. 26 And
I have declared unto them thy name, and will declare it: that the love
wherewith thou hast loved me may be in them, and I in them.
Luke 24:44-49
PROMISE OF THE FATHER—THE
HOLY GHOST
44
And he said unto them, These are the words which
I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled,
which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in
the psalms, concerning me. 45 Then opened he their
understanding, that they might understand the scriptures, 46 And
said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved
Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day: 47 And
that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all
nations, beginning at Jerusalem. 48 And ye are witnesses of these
things. 49 And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you:
but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on
high.
Acts 1:1-8
THE PROMISE OF THE
FATHER—THE HOLY GHOST
1
The former treatise have I made, O Theophilus, of all that Jesus began both to
do and teach, 2 Until the day in which he was taken up, after that
he through the Holy Ghost had given commandments unto the apostles whom he had
chosen: 3 To whom also he shewed himself alive after his passion by
many infallible proofs, being seen of them forty days, and speaking of the
things pertaining to the kingdom of God: 4 And, being assembled together
with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem,
but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith
he, ye have heard of me. 5 For John truly baptized with water;
but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.
6
When they therefore were come together, they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt
thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel? 7 And he said
unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the
seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power. 8 But ye shall
receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be
witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and
unto the uttermost part of the earth.
Acts 2:1-4
THE DAY OF
PENTECOST—FULFILLMENT
1
And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in
one place. 2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a
rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. 3
And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon
each of them. 4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and
began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
Acts
2:37-41
THE UNQUESTIONABLE AUTHORITY
OF PETER
37
Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said
unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall
we do? 38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every
one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall
receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. 39 For the promise is unto you,
and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the
Lord our God shall call. 40 And with many other words did he testify
and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation. 41
Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there
were added unto them about three thousand souls. [1]
