Honesty
Romans 12:17
KJV
Recompense
to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men.
NLT
Never pay
back evil for evil to anyone. Do things in such a way that everyone can see you
are honorable.
NRS
Do not
repay anyone evil for evil, but take thought for what is noble in the sight of
all.
2 Corinthians 8:21
KJV 16 But thanks be to God, which put the same earnest care into the
heart of Titus for you. 17
For indeed he accepted the exhortation; but being more forward, of his own
accord he went unto you. 18
And we have sent with him the brother, whose praise is in the gospel
throughout all the churches; 19 And not that only, but who
was also chosen of the churches to travel with us with this grace, which is
administered by us to the glory of the same Lord, and declaration of your
ready mind: 20 Avoiding
this, that no man should blame us in this abundance which is administered by
us:
KJV Providing for honest
things, not only in the sight of the Lord, but also in the sight of men.
NLT
We are
careful to be honorable before the Lord, but we also want everyone else to know
we are honorable.
NRS
for we
intend to do what is right not only in the Lord's sight but also in the sight
of others.
1 Peter 2:11-12
KJV
Dearly
beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly
lusts, which war against the soul; 12 Having your conversation
honest among the Gentiles: that, whereas they speak against you as evildoers,
they may by your good works, which they shall behold, glorify God in the
day of visitation.
NLT
Dear
brothers and sisters, you are foreigners and aliens here. So I warn you to keep
away from evil desires because they fight against your very souls. 12
Be careful how you live among your unbelieving neighbors. Even if they accuse
you of doing wrong, they will see your honorable behavior, and they will
believe and give honor to God when he comes to judge the world.
NRS
Beloved,
I urge you as aliens and exiles to abstain from the desires of the flesh that
wage war against the soul. 12 Conduct yourselves honorably among the
Gentiles, so that, though they malign you as evildoers, they may see your
honorable deeds and glorify God when he comes to judge.
1 Thessalonians 4:12
KJV That ye may walk honestly toward them that are
without, and that ye may have lack of nothing.
NLT As a result, people who are not Christians will
respect the way you live, and you will not need to depend on others to meet
your financial needs.
NRS so that you may behave properly toward outsiders and
be dependent on no one.
