The Newark UPC youth group dug out a relic from the past and held a
lock-in / pong-a-thon in July of 1999 for the first time in years. The
young people raised money by obtaining sponsors for staying up
all night and playing at least ten games of ping pong. Surprisingly, every
young person stayed up from 8 pm to 8 am before they went home to sleep
for most of Saturday. Before it was over, numerous games of ping pong
had been played and much food was devoured including cookies which some
of the girls baked during the night, ice cream cones and sundaes along
with plenty of nachos. As the sun rose on Saturday morning, the young
people piled into three vans and a car to invade McDonalds as it opened
at 6:30 am. The following pages of photos give you a hint of what it
was like to stay up all night with a youth group. |
